“America’s greatest living poet” – Iggy Pop

There is only one Godfather of punk in this world and it’s none other than the music god Iggy Pop himself – 16 albums later and there is no stopping him just yet. 2016 is the year that has marked his 17th album in collaboration with Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme, Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders and LA multi-instrumentalist Dean Fertita. It’s called ‘Post Op Depression’ and is filled with his biggest hits and most popular performances such as ‘The Passenger’ or ‘Lust for Life’.

Career and Life

69 years old, yet Iggy Pop isn’t thinking of retiring anytime soon and instead continues to spread his legacy through his music. His love for music started early and grew each year until he started his career in 1960 as a drummer for the school band.

‘Once I hit junior high in Ann Arbor, I began going to school with the son of the president of Ford Motor Company, with kids of wealth and distinction. But I had a wealth that beat them all. I had the tremendous investment my parents made in me. I got a lot of care. They helped me explore anything I was interested in. This culminated in their evacuation from the master bedroom in the trailer, because that was the only room big enough for my drum kit. They gave me their bedroom.’

In 1967 Iggy Pop went to a Jim Morrison gig which amazed and inspired him to push the boundaries on stage. He was the first person to ever do a stage-dive and has since then mainly performed bare-chested; his eagerness, commitment and love for music have pushed him to be successful.

The ‘Post Op Depression’ Album

His latest album was recorded Live at the Royal Albert Hall and has since then won the UK Music Video Award for the Best Live Music Coverage. Ed Sheeran and The Rolling Stones were just some of the contestants hoping to win the award, but none of them were as outstanding as Iggy Pop.

His latest live concert at the Royal Albert Hall has been considered to be the biggest and best one yet and has certainly stood out enough to win him an award. The concert was filmed by Splinter Films and guess who supplied the kit for it? We did of course and it was our pleasure to have been able to be part of such an exciting experience. All we can say is, thank you and congratulations Iggy Pop on your award. It certainly is well deserved.
