Aimimage Turns 40: Looking Back on the Last 4 Decades
This year Aimimage turns 40. It’s been a whirlwind 4 decades with so many credits we’re extremely proud of.
Despite our age, and experience, we’re still an independent kit hire company, plus, we’re one of the most enduring (and successful!) too.
We’re using this blog to take a look back at some of our best work.
Gladiator
With Gladiator 2 just released, this one had to be at the top of our list.
Every single part of this story is incredible. The visuals are next level (even at 24 years old), the plot keeps you completely engrossed for the full running time and the story arc is iconic. This film won 5 Academy Awards:
- Best picture
- Best actor (Russel Crowe)
- Best costume
- Best sound
- Best visual effects
It’s a complete masterpiece from Ridley Scott, and one we’re so proud to say we played a part in.
Sherlock
Sherlock is a modern take on a historic classic.
Conan Doyle’s iconic character is portrayed as a ‘high-functioning sociopath’, in modern London. Trusty Dr Watson is an Afghanistan War vet who was introduced to Holmes by a mutual friend.
This BBC series has a 9.1 rating on IMBd, with more than half a million 10* reviews. The writing is extremely clever, and the show, rightly, won a whole host of Emmys, Critic’s Choice Awards and Baftas.
Bridgerton
We’re looking back on a more recent credit now, the iconic Bridgerton. This show transformed popular culture, inspiring a revival of Regency-era fashion and decor. From high street brands to haute couture designers, when Bridgerton was released, puffed sleeves came back in, along with pastel shades and floral prints.
Outside of its wider cultural impact, the series itself was another hit when it comes to awards. To date, the show’s had 87 nominations and 16 wins, including Emmys, NAACPs and MTV Movie + TV Awards.
Looking Forward
As much as we enjoy looking back on the brilliant work we have helped make possible, it’s also so exciting to look forward and wonder what will come next.
We’re constantly updating our stock and kit, with new equipment that allows film and TV directors to take their creations to new heights. We can’t wait to update you in another 10 years, when we celebrate half a century in film and TV.
