The Atomos Samurai Blade 5″

The Atomos Samurai Blade is an awesome product that targets SDI users and fans of the Atomos Connect (HDMI to SDI). A versatile HD-SDI monitor, recorder and playback deck, the Samurai makes use of the AtomOS operating system which provides an intuitive experience and ease of use.

Samurai’s high resolution, 1280 x 720 touchscreen IPS is a lot higher than past Atomos models. It can record uncompressed at up to 1080/30p/60i straight from a camera’s HD-SDI output. Captured images are stored in a 2.5” SDD or HDD in ready-to-edit Avid DNxHD or Apple ProRes codecs.

False color, waveform, focus peaking, and vectorscape are but some of the professional monitoring  features of the Samurai Blade. HD proxies can be created while recording in 4K including on-the-fly footage rough cutting. Footages can be tagged and saved  either as a Reject or Favorite, ready for final editing in the studio.

The Samurai Blade includes a docking station for uploading recordings to a computer. It also comes with a Sony-type battery charger, a D-tap adapter for the batteries. For uninterrupted power, there is the AC adapter. The Samurai Blade also comes with two master caddies.

The rugged carry case for the Atomos Samurai Blade boasts a hard exterior. The interior is soft foam that effectively protects the Samurai Blade  along with its other essential accessories. It  can be comfortably carried using the padded shoulder strap or by hand via the top handle.
