Hydra Alien Car Mounting System
Traditionally, car shoots are a difficult and complex affair. Due to the weight of the cameras, you often need a bunch of support gear and staff, as well as permissions to actually be able to drive the car anywhere.

That’s where lighter cameras and gimbals come in to make life easier. Tilta has taken up this challenge, their Hydra Alien Car Mounting System is designed for the brilliant DJI RS-2 gimbal, which is ideal for mirrorless cameras.
Smaller gimbals and smaller cameras naturally mean… a smaller support system. The Tilta Hydra Alien Car Mounting System comes in a suitcase, fully equipped with everything you need: suction cups, a spring arm, dovetail support plates, V mount plates and much much more. Better yet, the Hydra Alien Car Mounting System comes in a more affordable package than other systems.

The mount is extremely versatile, there are 8 different ways to attach it to your car to create a wide range of differing shots. You can place it on the hood of the car, the back, either side, the doors and so on, ensuring you can get the best shot for your project. The mounting phase itself is effortless. The suction cups hold the Hydra Alien rig right in place, just always be sure to use a ratchet strap to secure the mount (just in case any of the cups come loose).
Follow the book
Whilst you do need some very basic technical knowledge to ensure you choose the right points for the suction cups, overall it is easy and fast to set the Hydra Alien Car Mounting System, so long as you follow the manual (which you should do each time). After every drive, make sure to tighten all the bolts and test the vacuum in each of the section cups, to be sure they haven’t become loose over time.
In conclusion, the Hydra Alien Car Mounting System is a rig that is versatile, it works safely and it is fast to set up. Tilta took this job seriously, creating an easy-to-use, effective mounting system which was also enhanced after customer feedback. They took their job seriously and hit the nail on the head with this one.
