Marvel’s “Guardians Of The Galaxy” is One of the Best Films of 2014

“Guardians of the Galaxy” is one of the most commercially successful films of 2014. The movie relays the adventures of a contrasting group of interplanetary rebels who are on the run from space cops. Directed and co-written by James Gunn, the film was shot by British cinematographer Ben Davis.

Reckless adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe.

To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a four disparate misfits — Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon; Groot, a tree-like humanoid; the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer.

However, when Peter discerns the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the universe, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand — with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.

Highly Recommended Sci-Fi Film

“Guardians of the Galaxy” is a highly recommended, must watch film. It’s an ensemble sci-fi adventure comedy with clever dialogue and a memorable cast of characters. Its group dynamics is very similar to what we saw in “The Avengers”. It widens the lens to encompass the greater Marvel universe making use of characters and extraterrestrial races we’ve seen in Thor films.

The tone is very unique, shifting effortlessly between comedy, suspense and drama with an array of action scenes in a wide variety of set pieces.

If you’ve been following the Marvel movies so far, you’ll want to see this since it helps to expand the cinematic universe while setting the stage for the future Avengers films. On the other hand, if you haven’t been following the franchise very consistently or not at all, it still works as an adventure movie.

The main characters have little or nothing to do with any of the movies so far, and while there are one or two faces we’ve seen before, especially in the anti-hero department, you won’t need to know them to be able to enjoy it.
